What to expect from the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
July 08 2022,
Mercedes-Benz is in the midst of its electric shift, and the models from the EQ electric division are arriving in spades. Really, there's something to look forward to, as each product we discover makes our eyes glaze over.
One of the next to arrive is the electric version of the E-Class, the model that will be called the EQE. Here's a little bit of what the latter has in store for us for the year 2023.
A small EQS
You could say that the new EQE is a small EQS, the company's flagship. In fact, it takes its style and most of its features, but inside a more compact format. However, because of its electric configuration, it will offer a more spacious interior than we've been used to with the E-class.
And, interestingly, the EQE sedan is positioned between a Tesla Model 3 and a Tesla Model S in the market, so it addresses needs that remain unaddressed by that rival company.
Two versions
There will be two versions of the EQE. The first one is expected to be called the EQE 350+ and will be offered with a single-engine configuration (rear-wheel drive). Expected power is 288 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, so performance will be there from the start. As for the battery, we're talking about a unit with a capacity of 90.6 kWh, which will be enough to allow a range of over 500 kilometers.
Later, a version with two electric motors (all-wheel drive) will be available, the EQE 500, which will offer 402 horsepower and even better performance.
Fast charging
What will be interesting with this EQE is the fast charging that it will offer. Basically, we're talking about 9.5 hours to get the battery capacity from 10 percent to 100 percent at a Level 2 charging station. Then, with a fast DC unit (level 3), it will take 31 minutes to go from 10% to 80% charge.
On the cutting edge
Finally, the EQE will offer everything you'd expect to find in a Mercedes-Benz sedan. For example, inside, luxury will be omnipresent with beautiful materials, rich surfaces and a complete equipment level. As an option, it will even be possible to opt for the Hyperscreen dashboard, which takes the form of a huge 56-inch screen. Comfort will also be optimal with an air suspension, as will maneuverability with a four-wheel steering system.
The EQE is truly an exceptional sedan. Watch for its arrival in dealerships to come and see it in person.
