Safety and the Mercedes-Benz GLB: It’s a serious matter

At Mercedes-Benz, we're serious about everything we offer, but if there's one area where we're even more serious, it's in the area of safety. The example of the new GLB speaks volumes in this regard, because this SUV offers everything the customer is asking for.

Let's take a look at some of the things that make travelling in this vehicle safe.

First, let's take the time to analyze what comes standard with the GLB. Standard systems include headlights and two LEDs for better visibility, seven airbags, an electronic stability system, a tire pressure monitor, heated windshield washer fluid, and a system that monitors your attention when you're at the controls.

In the event of a problem on the road, we also benefit from emergency braking and Brake Assist in the event of an early frontal collision. The GLB even benefits from a system that was introduced on the Sprinter van a few years ago: a stability device in case of strong side winds. At the wheel, it's all light, but it increases control in the worst conditions.

Later on, other features are added when you add different option packages. All of them are interesting, from automatic low beam, to lane departure and blind spot warning systems, to adaptive cruise control.

By the way, when Adaptive Cruise Control is activated, you can also take advantage of Active Lane Departure Warning, which monitors your position in your lane. It will even reposition you if you swerve to another lane without flashing.

The GLB can even be equipped with a lane change assistant. You activate your flasher and if the lane is clear, the vehicle runs safely; you just have to watch it. Finally, the Pre Safe system is also worth mentioning. In the event of a collision or rollover, it will not only tighten the seatbelts, but also close the sunroof and windows for maximum protection.

Impressive. That's the word that comes to mind when you take a look at all the safety features the GLB has to offer.
