New Mercedes-Benz EQE and EQS electric vehicles win two prestigious awards

The Mercedes-Benz EQE and the Mercedes-Benz EQS are the first fully-electric Mercedes-Benz sedans to arrive on the market. The was launched last year while the EQE will be arriving very soon. You can think of the Mercedes-Benz EQS like the S-Class of Mercedes electric vehicles while the EQE will sit just underneath in terms of size and interior space, like the E-Class today.

That said, both stand out in their respective segments for their remarkable electric technology and architecture, spectacular blend of performance and luxury, and advanced features. This explains why the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Mercedes-Benz EQE have already started winning awards including the 2022 World Car Awards and the 2022 Sunday Times Best Car of the Year. Let's take a closer look.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE is the Sunday Times Car of the Year

The 2022 Sunday Times Car of the Year awards were announced earlier in October. The new EQE was named the best car overall vehicle by the Sunday Times, marking an impressive feat for a brand-new electric vehicle. The EQE which was unveiled back in the spring features a 90.6-kWh lithium-ion battery that can charge at 170 kW to recharge 180 km of range in just 15 minutes. You can also charge at 22 kW on a level II charger at home. Total range is rated at 400 km.

That EQE was the first electric vehicle developed by Mercedes-AMG and features two electric motors that combine to deliver 616 hp and 701 pound-feet of torque out of the gate with an available 677 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque in the sportiest setting. This allows the new EQE to reach 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

2022 World Luxury Car of the Year Award for the Mercedes-Benz EQS

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS also received a prestigious award earlier this year when it was named the World Luxury Car of the Year in the 2022 World Car of the Year awards. The EQS stood out among its competitors for its luxurious and refined interior, but more importantly for its remarkable comfort and its spectacular electric powertrain. The EQS offers 516 hp but the power easily climbs over 600 hp depending on the drive mode. This is enough to power the EQS to 100 km/h in just over four seconds

That said, the range is perhaps the most impressive element of the EQS. You can easily get over 500 km of range in the new flagship Mercedes-Benz luxury electric vehicle. This will give you the freedom to go anywhere you want with confidence.
