Mercedes-EQ in 2023 – To the Power of Three
September 06 2022,
More and more electric vehicles are appearing on Canadian roads today and Mercedes is right there on-trend as they prepare to release three new all-electric Mercedes-EQ models to Canadian markets in 2023, covering three distinct segments: full-size SUV, compact SUV, and mid-size sedan. Here’s your starting line-up:
Mercedes-EQ EQB
If you like the funky, boxy styling of the GLB-Class crossover, then the EQB will be right up your alley as it shares GLB’s body style, but with an all-new front fascia and wheel choices. Power comes courtesy of a 66.5 kWh battery and is good for almost 420 km of range as well as EV motors combining for 255 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque. Charge times, meanwhile, range from 7.5 hour on a 240V level II charger, to just 32 minutes to go from 10-80% on a level III DC fast charge.
Mercedes-EQ EQE
From boxy, funky crossovers we move to streamlined mid-sized sedans. The EQE is just a little bigger than the popular E-Class sedan and far more streamlined with more room inside. It’s also cleaner inside thanks to special Energizing Air Control tech and far more futuristic. Speaking of futuristic: power comes courtesy of a 90 kWh battery and EV motors that combine to provide 288 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, with a 10-100% charge coming in at 30 minutes on a level III DC fast charger.
Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV
We’ve seen the EQS nomenclature before on the full-size sedan currently on offer, which is about the size of an S-Class. That means, then, that the EQS SUV is kind of like the S-Class of EV SUVs, which is not a bad title to hold. It makes good on its nomenclature by providing luxurious seating for seven, up to 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque and an EV driving range of over – that’s “more than” – 600 km. That’s more than enough for a nice family road tip and when it comes time to charge, expect charging times similar to those of the smaller, less powerful EQE.
