January 26 2022,
Mercedes-Benz had strong sales numbers last year despite a very challenging environment for every automaker in 2021. Overall, Mercedes-Benz sold 31,243 vehicles, an increase of 3.4% over the previous year. Once again, sport utility vehicles were the most important vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz family.
The top-selling Mercedes-Benz vehicle was the redesigned and very refined Mercedes-Benz GLE, which saw its sales increase by 6.2% in 2021. The Mercedes-Benz GLB, a 3-row subcompact SUV, saw sales jump by 56.3 per cent in 2021. The iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon also had a great year, registering an increase in sales of 47.8%.
Of course, the new Mercedes-Benz sedan lineup also did very well, specifically the flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class which saw sales increase by 29.1% compared to 2020. Mercedes-Benz also registered a record-setting year when it comes to pre-owned vehicles, registering the best sales month ever for the pre-owned vehicle division in March and increasing its overall pre-owned vehicle sales by 9.8%.
“2021 was another year that tested our teams and national dealer network to deliver creative solutions for our customers in a safe environment, and I’m proud of what we achieved together. We experienced strong growth in Canada with our Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG and G-Class specialty brands, and this strong demand will give us the momentum we need as we accelerate into a new electric era. Customer interest is high for our upcoming lineup of Mercedes-EQ vehicles, from the EQS 580 4MATIC sedan to the family-friendly EQB SUV, and we look forward to working closely with all of our partners to begin this next electric chapter in our storied history,” said Eva Wiese, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada
