Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence Explained

Let’s face it; try as we might as we begin the transition to EV motoring, it’s hard to ignore the spectre of range anxiety. Whether or not we can make it not because of a time crunch, weather or diminishing light but because we just may not have the charge remains on the mind, even as EVs become capable of more and more range.

As a leader in EV technology, Mercedes-EQ is here to help assuage those fears through a number of avenues including larger batteries, more on-board aides to help maximize your charge and Navigation with Electric Intelligence.

Typically, when it comes to setting a route in our navigation system, the system looks at past usage and driving habits to help determine just how far we can go in our EVs. With Mercedes-EQ’s Navigation with Electric Intelligence, the system actually looks into the future to see what can be accomplished. Topography, the ambient temperatures along the route – even the heating and cooling requirements are considered as routes are planned. Then, all of that data – including real-time traffic along the route – is applied and your Mercedes-EQ car or SUV is able to tell you not just how far you can go, but what range you’ll have once you arrive at your destination as well as how long you may have to spend at any charge stations along the route. It can even tell you if you’ll be able to return to your original starting point – your home, for example – without charging.

It doesn’t end there, either; you’re never alone in your Mercedes-EQ because even if there’s a sudden change in traffic, or if a detour’s required and so on, Navigation with Electric Intelligence will prompt drivers to switch off or limit various on-board range consumers to ensure you’ll have the charge required to get you where you need to go.

The objective of Mercedes-EQ Electric Intelligence is to make every journey easier and reduce possible range anxiety you may face when driving an electric Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
