Mercedes-Benz GLB: three well-kept secrets
September 23 2020,
The GLB is the newest SUV in the Mercedes-Benz family, and since its debut, it has been turning heads time and time again. However, rather than being a simple addition to the lineup and segment of sub-compact SUVs, the GLB offers something that sets it apart. Here are three of them.
1 - A high-end multimedia system
Normally, to enjoy a state-of-the-art multimedia system, you have to opt for more high-end models. Not at Mercedes-Benz. In fact, the company's MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) approach began with the brand's entry-level models, such as the GLB. And this system is quite something. Its voice recognition and personal assistant features set new standards in the field. For example, if you're used to making a phone call at a specific time in the morning on your way to work, your GLB will prompt you to do so at that precise moment to avoid forgetting. And this is just one of the many impressive features of the MBUX system.
2 - Driving modes
Driving styles have become very popular throughout the industry and GLB is no exception. Where it stands out, however, is that it offers a truly different experience from one setting to another. Elsewhere, you sometimes have to look for the difference in feel. With the GLB, when you switch from Comfort mode to Sport mode, you can feel the vehicle waking up and the suspension firming up under your butt. In Eco mode, fuel economy is taken to a whole new level. It's even possible to select individual settings to enjoy, for example, a firmer suspension but normal engine and transmission behavior.
3 - Seven seats
Generally, sub-compact SUVs can't offer a third row; it's a question of space. Well, the GLB can. Its configuration allowed engineers to add a third row in the back if needed. Of course, it's ideal for young children, not adults, but the possibility is there. Here, the competition can't say the same.
