How to choose between the Mercedes-Benz GLE or GLE Coupe?
April 26 2022,
Selecting a new model is not an easy task, as there are many choices available to us across the industry. Choosing a Mercedes-Benz model within the family of products we offer is not an easy task either, as our range is varied.
Once you've chosen a product, in this case a Mercedes-Benz GLE, you'd think your worries would be over. But no, there are two body styles to choose from, either the regular version or the coupe-style version.
So how do you make the right choice?
Here are a few clues.
The style
The first thing that could make you decide quickly is the style of the two models. With the GLE, you're looking at a traditional, classic-looking SUV. With the coupe, it's similar up front, but the rear is much bolder with a plunging roofline and a truncated rear end.
See which one you like better at first glance, then the second, the third, etc.; you'll be looking at it for years to come.
The interior volume
Of course, because of the exterior styling, you can guess that the interior volume is influenced. Rest assured, it's generous in both cases, but with the regular model, it's more open towards the rear, especially in height. The result is that the GLE's total capacity is 2055 liters behind the first row of seats, while it's 1790 with the GLE Coupe.
It's not a dramatic difference, but if you're used to carrying a lot of stuff, it's worth considering.
The versions
The regular model is available in three ways, the coupe version in two ways. The only difference is that the first one can be delivered with a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain, which offers 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. We're talking about the GLE 350 version.
Otherwise, the GLE 450 and AMG GLE 53 variants are offered with each body style, with their 3.0-liter turbocharged V6s that are served up in two different sauces, 362 and 429 horsepower.
It's similar behind the wheel, although the sportiness is more with the coupe version, if there's a debate to be had on the matter. The best thing to do is to come by and see both models and take them for a test drive.
