2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE: we're already burning with envy

At Mercedes-Benz, the arrival of electric models in the next few years will be commonplace. Of course, each one is eagerly awaited, but in the case of the EQE sedan, the electric version of our E-Class, we're already eager to test drive and experience it, because it promises to be perfect in every way.

The E-Class is a star in our family. The all-electric version promises to be just as much of a star. Here's why.

A little EQS

Mercedes-Benz has already introduced the EQS, the all-electric version of the company's flagship S-Class. With the EQE, we'll get all the advances of the EQS, but in a more compact format and at a more affordable price. The EQE will in fact be positioned directly below the EQS in the family. For comparison, it will be more massive than a Tesla Model 3, but smaller than a Model S.

Inside, the EQE will be available with the Hyperscreen, a massive screen that takes up all the space in front of the driver and that was presented to us with the EQS. A 12.3-inch screen for the instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch screen for the multimedia system in the center console, and another 12.3-inch screen that rests in front of... the passenger seat, three elements that make up the whole. The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system will of course be part of the game with its extraordinary functionalities for voice recognition, among others.

In fact, all the luxury that will be offered by the EQE promises to take your breath away. Seats with massage function, a refined audio system, ambient lighting that pleases the eye at any time of the day, a floating center console offering immense storage space, everything promises to be just right. You'll never want to get out of the car!

Capacities

When it comes to capacity, we won't be outdone. Initially, a single-engine model will be launched. It will be able to cover about 500 kilometers between each recharge. Its rear-wheel drive configuration will give it a sporty performance. Then, thanks to its 90.6 kWh battery, it will offer 288 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. This will be needed to clear 0-97 km/h in just 5.6 seconds.

A version with a more powerful battery and two electric motors is also expected a little later. We can expect a longer range, more life under the hood (around 400 horsepower), as well as all-wheel drive, needless to say.

An air suspension and directional rear wheels will also mark the EQE's spec sheet, among other things.

Fast charging

As for charging, here's what it's going to look like with a Level 2 charging station; a 9.5 hour time to go from 10% to 100% capacity. With a level 3 terminal, the time to get the battery from 10% to 80% will be just 31 minutes.

The model is expected in late 2022 as a 2023 product.
