2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe vs. 2021 BMW X6: Luxury and Performance Above All

The 2021 GLE Coupe combines the heart of a sports car, the assertiveness of an SUV, and the refinement of a coupe to create a passionate luxury vehicle that positions itself among the best. Mercedes-Benz offers two AMG editions of the 2021 GLE--the AMG GLE 53 and AMG GLE 63. Both feature exhilaration inside and out that pleases your selective driving senses.

However, the GLE does not come without competition. The 2021 BMW X6 attempts to compete with the GLE, so it's important to compare both vehicles.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE offers more choices

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is designed for an elegant, yet rare driving experience. Both the AMG GLE 53 and 63 offer their own engines that put power and performance at your fingertips. The AMG GLE 53 features a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder that produces 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. It achieves a 0-100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds.

The AMG GLE 63 S reaches the pinnacle of coupe performance with a handcrafted 4.0-litre, eight-cylinder biturbo with EQ Boost. With 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, the 63 S minimizes the GLE's 0-100 km/h time to 3.8 seconds.

The BMW X6 also offers models with unique engines. The xDrive40i includes a turbo 3.0-litre six cylinder that reaches 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, which is 96 fewer horsepower than the AMG GLE 53. The M50i increases horsepower to 523, but it's still far behind what the AMG GLE 63 S offers. The X6 M and M Competition increase and power and price, but the torque is lower than what the EQ Boost can provide.

The GLE powertrains pair with a quick-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. The X6 is fitted with an eight-speed automatic.

Overall, the GLE surpasses the BMW X6 in performance.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE features MBUX

Each GLE features the Mercedes Benz User Experience (MBUX) system. It is a suite of advanced technologies that incorporates artificial intelligence to help your vehicle improve the way it connects with you. It uses voice and touchscreen commands to change an array of functions. MBUX also features a navigation display that features augmented reality technology. The X6 does not have such an advanced system.
