2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Even more comprehensive for 2021

Mercedes-Benz never stops improving its products in order to offer more and more to its loyal customers. For 2021, the GLC represents this brand focus, as it comes with more standard equipment than ever before, as well as a greater choice of individual options, giving more freedom to build a model.

Speaking of models, the GLC is always available in a regular version or in a coupe configuration with a sloping roof. The base version is the GLC 300, which is equipped with a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 255 horsepower (273 pound-feet of torque). Then there's the AMG 43 variant, with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 and 385 horsepower (384 lb-ft of torque). At the top of the line, it's the AMG 63 S livery and its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 503 horsepower (516 lb-ft of torque). A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard on all models.

Before going any further, let's just mention that the following is the information announced on the United States side. It's most likely the same in Canada, but small differences are always possible.

As for this enhanced equipment list, it includes throughout the range the KEYLESS-GO keyless entry, the Active Parking Assist automatic parking system that allows you to let the vehicle carry out perpendicular or parallel maneuvers autonomously, as well as the rear cross traffic alert. These standard additions complete an already comprehensive offering that included 18-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications, a power-opening tailgate, adaptive suspension, a two-zone climate control system, roof rails, LED headlights, and the company's MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system, among others.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz is making a wider range of individual options available for 2021. For example, hands-free tailgate opening, automatic low beam headlights, 360-degree camera for parking, as well as an option that lets you know if your vehicle has been damaged while parked (Parking Damage Detection), are offered without forcing you to choose an equipment package. Note that for the 360-degree camera, it is included in the GLC 63.

Finally, let's note the addition of a silver color, Cirrus, to the list of those offered. And as for the GLC's name, if you ever wondered, here's what it means; the letters GL for the German word Geländewagen which means off-road vehicle, as well as the letter C for the association to the C-Class with which the chassis is shared.
