2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Updates to stay on top

The current generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class arrived on the market in 2017 (2018 for the Coupe). For 2021, Mercedes is offering a series of improvements to keep it as modern as possible so that it remains at the top of its game.

Let's take a look at what has been reserved for this 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but above all why it is one of the most complete and sought-after cars in the world of luxury cars.

The choice of bodywork

Certain body styles are becoming increasingly rare on the market but looking at what's offered to us with the 2021 E-Class, you wouldn't believe it. Concretely, Mercedes-Benz offers us its mid-size model in four ways; sedan, coupe, wagon and convertible. And this year, the E-Class is unveiled with new headlights and taillights, as well as reworked lines on the muzzle and rear end.

The choice of engines

In addition to the incredible choice of bodywork, there are superb powertrain options, each one defining versions of the model. The 350 versions, for example, feature a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. With the 450 models, a 3-litre twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine is at your service with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The latter is partially electrified with EQ Boost technology, which offers better responsiveness without requiring greater fuel consumption.

Then there are the AMG E 53 and E 63 models. The former features a twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, while the latter features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that's good for 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

Everywhere, a nine-speed automatic transmission, tuned to serve the engine it’s coupled with, is present, as is the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

All in all, it's simple: 11 model and engine configurations are available.

Redesigned interior

The upgrade on the 2021 E-Class has mainly aimed at modernizing the multimedia approach. In fact, the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system, which made its debut in the A-Class in 2019, is being deployed in more and more models now, and it's the E-Class's turn to enjoy it. The same incredible level of luxury is still inherited, as is the choice of tasty customization with ambient lighting, seats that offer an indecent level of comfort, in short, perfection has been perfected.

And add to all this a driving experience that takes you somewhere else, whether you're driving a sedan, a convertible, an AMG model or a 4-cylinder engine version. Everything is wonderfully adapted, and behind the wheel, you just have to savour what's suggested to you.
