MBUX system: five attractive features

Since Mercedes-Benz introduced its latest generation of multimedia approach, it has received a concert of praise, both from the owners of vehicles equipped with it and from the automotive press, which is not always kind. This is because the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system really does offer attractive features. Here are five of them.

1 - Augmented reality navigation

Navigation systems offered by manufacturers (or their suppliers) have become a little less popular in recent years, because with smartphones, it is possible to take advantage of applications that often do a better job. With Mercedes-Benz's augmented reality navigation system, phones will remain inactive. It's simple, the technology put forward by the company is so relevant that it's becoming indispensable. And what does augmented reality add to the navigation experience? A simple example. As you approach an intersection, the camera located in front of the vehicle displays the image it is capturing, and on the image appears, for example, the names of the streets and the direction to take. Magic, especially at night.

2 - Access for all

We all have different preferences when it comes to "playing" with the technology in our vehicles. Mercedes-Benz is well aware of this. That's why it has developed different ways of interacting with the system. For example, you can use the on-screen touch buttons, the buttons on the centre console, the two touchpads on the steering wheel (to keep your hands on the wheel at all times) or simply rely on voice recognition to access the system's functions. Four approaches! No one says it better.

3 - Speech recognition that goes further

The MBUX system's voice recognition system does not simply recognize the name of a contact you wish to reach or the address you wish to integrate into the navigation tool. In fact, it goes much further. By starting your sentences with the phrase "Hey, Mercedes", you start a conversation with the system. You can formulate your questions as if you were having a conversation with a passenger, for example by saying "the sound is too loud". The system will recognize your request and lower the volume. You can also ask MBUX what is the best scorer in the history of your favorite hockey team... and you will get the answer.

4 - An intelligent system

But that's not all. The system gets to know you, and when it perceives specific habits, such as tuning to a channel or choosing a recurring music list at a certain time of day, it will check to see if you're willing to do so at the right time. Think of him as a personal assistant who is there to make sure you don't forget anything.

5 - A presentation in the spotlight

Finally, and amusingly enough, the system is deployed on two huge screens that are actually one. In front of the driver's eyes, all the information related to driving is displayed. What's interesting is that the presentation can be configured to show what you want to see. The same goes for the multimedia system screen, which can take the form of various menus and sub-menus. And what about the clarity of the display! Mercedes-Benz has set the bar very high for the competition here.
